Rahul sat in the classroom feeling hungry and worried. His lunch box, the blue one with racing cars, had disappeared from the shelf.
He wanted to tell the teacher, but he thought about Vikram, the boy in the next bench. Vikram often said his family had no money. Rahul thought maybe Vikram had taken it because he was hungry.
At lunch time, Rahul bought a sandwich from the canteen. He said nothing. At the end of the day he felt sad and did not understand why.
The next morning his mother found the lunch box at the school gate. A cleaner had moved it to a safe place. Rahul realised then that his silence had not helped Vikram. He decided to speak to the teacher about helping.
