Read the passage

Anvi found a tiny seed at the market. It was no bigger than a rice grain. The seller said it would grow into a night-blooming flower.

Anvi took it home and planted it in a small pot with soil. Every morning she watered it. Every afternoon she placed the pot in the sun. For three weeks nothing happened. She almost gave up.

Then one morning she saw a sprout, thin and green, poking through the soil. Anvi watered it carefully. She talked to it, telling it how beautiful it would be.

Six months later, the plant had grown tall and strong. On the first night it bloomed, the flower opened its petals. They were deep purple with a gold centre, and the smell was like vanilla and honey. Anvi watched all night, never taking her eyes off it.
